When we enter a new setting for the first time, be it a new class in university or a new office, the first thing our eyes scan, are the faces. We hope to find an image that we would want to trust, and help us shed our initial nervous jitters.
During our observation we’ll find some appearances, intimidating, some attractive, some future crushes, some reliable but only ONE trustworthy, whom we’ll choose to sit with, or have our first lunch with.
Who we’re sitting or having lunch with , or who we're sleeping with (pun intended), few days after we’ve adjusted to our new setting, is however completely a different story altogether.
So, what’s the takeaway here?
Simple! Faces do create an impression and they do bring recognition, but essentially, in the long run, faces do not retain trust, or connection or anything, they are just identifiers, merely to identify one face from the other. Or rather help in recognizing, which one to run away from.
Likewise, brands are also beings, having a perceptional, intangible existence. They too have a character, style and a face, called: LOGO.
And given a choice none of us would like to see an ugly face in the mirror, but we don’t have that choice for our faces, but for our brands we do HAVE that FACILITY.
